C-C 30 Power Catamaran
C-C 30 Power Catamaran
Like the C-C 20-31 Trailer Sailer the C-C 20 – 30 Power Catamarans were designed to take advantage of Compu-Craft KIT BOAT method of construction.( Now includes boats up to 39 feet - 11.9m ) Therefore it is not just a set of plans to build a boat BUT A COMPLETE NEW SYSTEM, a DIFFERENT quick and easy way to create a LIGHTER, FASTER more ECONOMICAL boat.
This system requires no expensive moulds or throw away frames, waste is all but eliminated and it draws on NO special skills or tools and these advantages favour the professional boat builder as much as the amateur.
The purpose of this design was to offer the Power Boat man a little more on several fronts. These advantages commence the day construction begins and most of them will remain with the boat for its entire life.
For one, LIGHTWEIGHT offers Economy of Operation FOR EVER MORE. First it was decided (at least for now) not to incorporate a Fly Bridge, this reduces weight, windage and building complexity and is in keeping with our theme of SIMPLICITY. It is intended as a very PRACTICAL and ENJOYABLE boat to own, with all the comforts of home.
As usual we will board over the stern, where, between the motors, there is a fold down cockpit extension that forms a swim and boarding platform, when lowered. It also allows the tender to be pulled up into the cockpit when under way (the extension folds up behind it). The cockpit is really the aft deck that extends from gunwale to gunwale. It is partly covered and provides a Fisherman's Service Centre (sink & bait board) with the gas bottle locker under, to Port and a comfortable seat (a fisherman's relaxation centre) to Starboard. On entering the saloon cabin there is a spacious U shaped Galley and Breakfast Bar to Port with the Dinette opposite. This can be raised a little to improve vision when seated. Forward to Port is the helm position with a large cosy lounge alongside so that the 'offwatch' can take in the vista and converse with the skipper when underway.
Aft and to Port is access to the side deck through a sliding door or down to the Portside double cabin with lockers and full standing headroom. Back in the saloon cabin is a large bench to Starboard (for TV and the like) a short companionway leads to good sized, enclosed Toilet, Shower and Vanity with full headroom, and forward to a second spacious double cabin with the chart table forming the deckhead to this cabin. With the exception of the anchor winch all other tanks and machinery are confined to the Aft Deck and hulls.
All this floating on two fine catamaran hulls that have been designed to perform well over a wide range of speeds and sea conditions with special consideration directed towards a friendly motion and minimum wash. A s mentioned on our Home Page under SPECIAL PROJECTS and Compu-Craft KIT BOATS, this system calls for a WHOLE NEW APROACH to boat building.
This project will just click together in about as many hours as most other methods take days. THATS RIGHT it takes only a FRACTION of the time normally expected. The entire frame for the hull, interior and cabin structure is made up of a combination of square and circular alloy tubing. Fixed together with a range of specially designed (patented) C-C clamps (joiners) that do not rely on welding or gluing. They mechanically grip the tubing and are locked in place by a few pop rivets. NOTHING COULD BE SIMPLER OR QUICKER.
The BIGGEST ADVANTAGE is the finished boat ready for your first weekend afloat with Motors, Fuel, Water, Mum and the Kids even the Lamingtons on board will DISPLACE LESS THAN FOUR TONS. This means about One Litre of fuel per Nautical Mile cruising at Ten to Twelve Knots. It is economical to 15 Kts. with a top speed of 20 Kts., using twin 50 HP Four stroke outboard motors. An even cheaper alternative is Two 25s that will offer day-long cruising at 8 to 10 Kts and a top of around 14 Kts, of cause if speed is your thing WHACK A TEAM of THEM on the back and watch the scenery DISAPPEAR.

C-C 33 Inboard Diesel or Outboard Power Catamaran
C-C 33 Power Catamaran Comments
First, this is an Easy-Build KIT with alloy frame so it will go together very quickly and it will not cost the earth to build.
Then it has Two double cabins and a family sized dinette that can also sleep the kids, the spacious galley has immediate access to the cockpit and inside steering position with a breakfast bar opposite a large chart table. There is an enclosed fully fitted bathroom, which Mum will love. She will also love the spacious lounge beside the helmsman seat where the whole family can be part of skippering their progress.
Then there is a great aft deck or cockpit that has foldup seats and a padded settee across the back of the cabin and a fisherman’s sink on the other side and the walk around side decks make this a very easy boat to live with.
This design is available as a planning hull for use with outboards, it is also offered as a displacement boat (different underwater shapes) for inboard diesels.
As mentioned above this is an alloy framed panel skin (marine ply, composite [foam, balsa or honeycomb] ) construction, however I will also provide full size drawings and details for building it in cedar strip plank construction.
The cockpit can be curtained off for protection and comfort.
In short - This is a boat that even a Millionaire would be proud to own.
