The Purpose of this design was to provide an economical, spacious cruising boat with FULL STANDING headroom in the bridgedeck cabin and partially covered cockpit. She had to be easily handled by her skipper, offer spacious and convenient accommodation for the family and friends. Her construction method and building time had to be simple and short. Yet the boat had to be light enough to still perform well in all conditions. These perimeters were met and in fact she has proved a popular boat and the plans are available with several variations of accommodation layout. Construction is of cedar strip plank glassed inside and out over plywood bulkheads (using many of Compu-Crafts procedures) this includes decks and cabins. The rig is that of a fixed tubular aluminium mast and cutter style, however it is intended that only the Genoa or the staysail would be combined with the mainsail depending on wind strength and direction. This gives the flexibility of areas to gain good all-round performance. This boat is fitted with centreboards so its windward ability is in keeping with the intention of serious cruising and passage making.

This boat incorporated many unique features when it was built several years ago now. Not the least being – fully insulated as a creature comfort – and I believe they have worked. It has cruised the Queensland coast for years and thousands of miles and is still owned by the original builder, that tells the story in itself.

Here is a truly INTERRESTING boat with space to burn and many unique features.First there is Four double cabins plus room to sleep an additional Three or Four kids, Two tlt/shower vanity areas, a laundry utilities area and a spacious workshop, a huge dinette come lounge, a nav. Station and a great U shaped galley. One of the above mentioned double cabins is an en-suite with its own head/shr. and the other is entered directly from the saloon cabin without the need to climb down into the hull. There is no cumbersome aft beam across the back of the cockpit so boarding is not a problem and when you wish to get under way; the dinghy can be easily pulled up into the cockpit for short trips (no davits).The steering position is commanding and comfortable, each motor is vertically retractable through a box above fairings under the bridgedeck and can be attended to from the cockpit at waist height. This arrangement also goes a long way towards preventing the motors from being swamped in any circumstances.The rig is a masthead cutter that offers a good stiff and simple rig that can be handled by One person most of the time. There are no backstays and all sheeting could be handled from the steering position.To date these boats have been built using the alloy frame KIT method but again I would offer a plan pack for cedar strip plank construction.

C-C 36 Sailing Catamaran
The first boat to this design was built of cold moulded plywood, the result was a very light boat that floated above her marks, she also sailed like a witch and is still in A1 condition today and providing all the pleasures I hoped she would when I designed her many years ago. She would be a contender for a redraw of her lines to accommodate the Compu-Craft Alloy Frame building method.
